The problem I deal with

A locking wheel nut stops anyone taking your wheels, but it also stops you if the key goes missing. It's a common reason people can't change a flat tyre or get new tyres fitted. The key may have been lost, left in a previous car, or it may have rounded off or broken in the nut.

What I do

I come to wherever the car is parked and remove the locking nut using the tools I carry, working so that the wheel isn't damaged. You don't need to take the car to a garage or have it recovered.

• Tell me your registration, and whether the key is lost or the nut is damaged.
• I give you the price and an honest arrival time before I set off.
• I remove the nut where you are, and I'll tell you before I start if a particular nut can't be removed safely.

Before you call

Some owners can order a replacement key using the code card that came with the car, but that isn't always possible, and it can take a while. If you need the wheels off today, call me instead.

Check the glovebox, the boot and the tool kit first. The key is often in one of them, in a pouch or under the spare wheel.

Replacing the locking nuts

Once the old nut is off, you'll need to decide whether to fit a new locking set or go back to standard nuts, and that depends on your car and how you want to protect the wheels. Ask when you call and I'll tell you honestly what's practical for your vehicle.
